Derek Rosewood is never going to marry.
Ever. Again.
Fresh off the heels of a bitter divorce, there are only three things he gives a sh*t about his daughter, his career, and his bachelorhood.
An attorney by trade and happily married to his job, he saves the drama for the courtroom and keeps women at an arm’s length. Their fragile, sequined hearts are safer that way. And besides, he's not in any condition to offer them the love and attention they so foolishly seek from him.
Believe him, he's not what they need. Not after what he's been through.
It’s not until he's assigned as the financial conservatorship for an aloof, enigmatic heiress that he finds his professional – and personal – boundaries pushed to the wayside. They're all wrong for each other. Emotionally unavailable. Bitter. Jaded. And he's supposed to look out for her best interests. Protect her.
But *this* wasn’t supposed to happen. And for that reason, Derek Rosewood pleads the fifth.
AUTHOR'S NOTES
This is a standalone, full-length romance with HEA. You do not need to read ROYAL first.
Bachelor Rixton Falls Book 2 edition by Winter Renshaw Literature Fiction eBooks
This book was hilarious to me because of Derek. He's so used to woman wanting him because he lays it down so good so he's expecting Serena to be the same. To fall for him because of his skill in the bedroom but like?? She's been with Keir (whose book I'd read before this one) so she's used to good generous lovers. And it just makes me laugh. He's so full of himself. She didn't fall for him because of the way he makes her come (like he thought) she fell for him because he was kind and generous when she needed it. Because of how he cares about the people he loves. And like a moron he screwed it all up. Serena deserved so much more than Derek and Keir in her life.

Bachelor Rixton Falls Book 2 edition by Winter Renshaw Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Such a great ...captivating read....really enjoyed this one ....I have to say I was happy when I saw this was going to be Derek's story ...wanted to know more about him after reading Royal ..which is Book 1 ...but these books CAN be read as standalones ...
~~“You find someone that makes you break the rules, you have to hold on and never let go.”~~
Derek is a bit "straight-laced"...he's been hurt before and now all in has time or cares for is his job and his daughter ...Serena is dealing with her own issues but things aren't exactly what they seem ..Her and Derek have good chemistry together ..they try to deny their feelings because they've both been hurt before ...Enjoyable storyline and read...Recommended!!!
OK so I have been less than thrilled with the books out lately....guy meets girl then 24 hours later and they are going at it then saying "I'm not easy, I'm not just another notch on your bed post" blah blah blah....."
I was happy that this book actually had them get to know one another before "falling madly in love" with one another. They had depth outside of just the two main characters.
So thank you for writing a book with more depth to it than "instant sex & all powerful *love* & a perfect HEA" I've been suckered into reading!
The first few pages I was thinking I would never finish this book. But I kept on, then I was hooked! I liked that the main characters admit that their first impression is one of lust not love. I appreciate learning about the characters and their backgrounds. I appreciate getting to see background characters and how everyone interacts with each other. I like that the author truly has written a standalone, granted their are characters from the first book in this one but, you could read this book by itself and not have a problem or feel you were missing out on information. Also, happy that the author has fully finished all the loose ends, gave us answers to any questions, unlike some of the books I have recently read where you are left wondering what happened to certain characters or storylines left unfinished.
I truly enjoyed reading Bachelor...it was a seamless transition from Royal.
There was enough angst, conflict, frustration and hope woven throughout the book that I felt as if I couldn't really predict what would happen next. The characters were very well developed and I never felt "cheated". This is a story about forgiveness, redemption, self-acceptance and courage. In a nutshell, you will get all the FEELS!!
I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a twisty-turny, complicated story about love with a HEA.
I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
I loved this story. This is my second time reading it, months later, there is no higher praise in my opinion. It's complex and comfortable. Derek and Serena are a perfect fit once they can get past the obstacles they've set up for themselves. There are lots of awful people and some very genuine people work for and against this couple. The dialog is so effortless and authentic between the H and h. I never give away the plot, but just know that this one is well thought out and keeps you engaged. Winter is a skilled writer. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Scroll up and One-Click, you won't be disappointed.
This was the first book that I've read from Winter and I can definitely say that it won't be my last. I was sucked in from the beginning. The characters were so well written it was ridiculous. Derek and Serena what a couple. As you see Derek is newly divorced and still feeling the affects and vows to stay a bachelor and not let anyone get close again, all he's concerned with is his daughter, work and being a playboy. What happen when your job takes a turn and you end up somewhere and feeling things you didn't think you could feel again? Enter Serena, Dereks job takes him right to Serena. She's beautifuly red hair blue eyes, she's shy' sexy and has a little but of sass to her. There relationship will be a testament to themselves to see if their past choices will come back to haunt them or push them forward. Great book, amazing writer and now I have to read Royal! Thanks Winter for such an amazing book!
I'm a Winter Renshaw fan and enjoyed the first book in this series - Royal.
Royal focused on Demi Rosewood and Bachelor focuses on her brother, Derek Rosewood - lawyer working in his fathers firm.
Derek had a horrible break-up to his marriage and has sworn off relationships because of it. Instead, he focuses on his daughter, work, and having fun.
Selena is a rich socialite whose had a rough few weeks. The court assigns Derek as her financial conservator.
Of course, sparks fly.
I enjoyed this book in the same way that I did Royal and would definitely recommend to contemporary romance fans.
It would have been a 5 star read except that I wanted a different direction after location 2774.
Spoilers ahead
No Serena, no. You don't get to do that.
No Winter, I was really invested in the Veronica sub-plot and you took away all the exciting resolution part with just a few sentences. Some other layer doesn't get the fun part!
I'd already been annoyed at Derek's father and the way he did a 180 that was out of character (especially after Royal), so I was hoping for a better final 15% conclusion.
But, still a 4 star read for me and I'll definitely have Filthy (book 3) on my pre-order list.
